Olympic champion hurdler Sally Pearson will reportedly skip her next race in Stockholm to return to Australia to work on her fitness.

Pearson has struggled in her comeback races from a wrist injury in the past week, however it is now believed an Achilles tendon problem is behind her slow race time.

The 29-year-old still had one race to run at the Diamond League in Europe this week on her return, but she will now fly back to Australia before rejoining the international circuit, according to News Corp Australia.

Pearson sat out exactly a year after a fall saw her dislocate and break 12 bones in her wrist last June, however it is understood it is not a confidence or technique issue behind her recent struggles.

The 2012 London 100-metre hurdles gold-medallist ran a time 13.25sec in Birmingham last week, before clocking a wind-assisted 12.92sec in Paris and then a slower 13.14sec in Norway.

Each of those time was well outside her own personal best of 12.28sec, and behind the leading Americans in the run to the August Olympics.
